Lariat CowBelles Annual Five States Round-Up
More than 40 years ago the Lariat CowBelles hosted the first Five State CowBelle Luncheon at the Eklund Hotel. Mrs. Viola Reeves was the Lariat president and Mrs. Karl Butt was the program chair.
Guests of honor were the state presidents of CowBelle organizations in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Kansas. Local chapters in the five state area were also invited.
The main purpose of the first Five State Round up luncheon was to allow CowBelles in the area to become acquainted with one another and to exchange beef promotional ideas. More than 80 CowBelles registered for the luncheon. Frances Owen, President of the Texas CowBelles wrote in her thank you note: “It was a delightful, informative day, perfect in every way and will be considered a high light of our CowBelle year. We applaud you for the idea and feel it definitely should become a tradition. A helpful and beneficial gathering for those of us who are really, quite close in miles and of course, in our aim of supporting and promoting the industry.”
Indeed the Five States Round-Up has become a tradition and expanded to include a continental breakfast, shopping at member booths, a silent auction, style show, beef luncheon, and an educational program filled with talks from outstanding speakers.
This event is held each year in Clayton in September. Look for registration information in your Wrangler newsletter and on this page! It’s always a delight to attend this annual event!
